"Now if you are unwilling to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living, but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15. NRSVUE
We went to church today.
It had been a couple of weeks, as we were out of town for family and
Thanksgiving.
So, when the alarm clock went off, the inclination to roll over on yet another
cold windy Northern Michigan day was strong. But we got up.
Made it to church, and the usual greeting of laughter and ribbing about
football (my wife’s team won!) immediately made us glad to be there.
Then came the music. Love that Christmas music. And the readings, and the singing, Communion, prayer and sermon. All reminding
us of why we are here: Our faith in God, and our love and caring for each other.
Then, we left to talk to other folks we hadn’t seen yet, eat the sweets that were lovingly prepared, and meet some new people we hope to see again soon.
We went to church today. And our day, and week to come, will surely be better
for it.
Prayer: Lord, let my excuses not be greater than praising You this week. Amen.
