Advent: Gray Skies, Coming Peace

Scripture:

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars… but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation… but the one who endures to the end will be saved.” — Matthew 24:6–13

Reflection:

Today the skies are gray and wet, a reminder that life often feels heavy with uncertainty. We walk through seasons where good and bad mingle—moments of joy alongside trials that test our faith. Yet Scripture assures us that these are but “birth pangs,” signs pointing toward the greater hope of Christ’s return.

Just as the drizzle gives way to snow, and snow eventually to spring, so too will the difficult times give way to a peace beyond understanding. The promise of Jesus’ return is not vague optimism—it is the certainty of God’s plan to restore creation and reign in righteousness.

Application:

When the world feels gray, remember: Christ has already overcome.

Let the wet, heavy skies remind you of the weight of waiting, but also of the hope that dawn is coming.

Endure with faith, knowing that the peace of Christ will break through the storm.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, in the midst of gray skies and uncertain times, anchor our hearts in Your promise. Help us endure with faith, and fix our eyes on the peace You will bring when You return., today, tomorrow and forevermore Amen.
