Scripture
John
15:15 (NIV)
“I no longer
call you servants … Instead, I have called you friends.”
Reflection
In the court of
King David, one man’s role stood out—not a soldier, not a prophet, but Hushai
the King’s Friend (1 Chronicles 27:33). He wasn’t tasked with strategy or
ceremony. His calling was simply personal: to offer loyalty, counsel, and
companionship.
When rebellion
came and Absalom seized the throne, Hushai chose to remain faithful to David.
Though he walked among false rulers, his allegiance never wavered. His
friendship was costly—and unwavering.
We live in a
world of rival thrones. False kings rise in status, success, and self. But our
hearts belong to Jesus—the rightful King. And He calls us not just servants,
but friends. He doesn't merely invite us to His throne—He draws us into His
heart.
Like Hushai, our
calling is to stay close to Christ. To walk with Him through prayer, Scripture,
worship, and fellowship. Not out of duty, but out of devoted friendship.
Jesus chose us
before we ever chose Him. And today, He calls us near—not for performance, but
for presence.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for calling me Your friend.
Strengthen my heart to stay close to You—
Even when the world offers counterfeit crowns.
Let me walk in joyful loyalty,
Unshaken by fleeting kingdoms,
Rooted in the sacred bond You’ve given.
May Your friendship be my joy, my strength, and my guiding light—
Today, tomorrow, and forevermore. Amen.
