1. I Believe in God the Father
When early Christians stepped into the
waters of baptism, the first question they were asked was simple and profound:
“Do you believe in God the Father
Almighty?”
This was not merely a statement about
God’s existence. It was a declaration of trust. To call God Father was
to confess that the Maker of heaven and earth is not distant or indifferent,
but near, attentive, and overflowing with compassion.
Jesus taught us to pray, “Our
Father in heaven” (Matthew 6:9). St. Paul reminds us that through Christ we
have received “the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, ‘Abba, Father’”
(Romans 8:15).
To believe in the Father is to rest in
His care. To trust His heart even when we cannot trace His hand. To know that
the One who calls us His children will not abandon the work of His love.
The early Church began its confession
here because all faith begins with the Father’s embrace.
Prayer
Father Almighty, teach us to trust
Your heart and rest in Your love. Let our lives reflect the confidence of Your
children, secure in Your care and steady in Your grace today, tomorrow and forevermore. Amen.
